Obituary

Valorie Hammock Tucker, age 62 of Jasper, Alabama, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family.

The celebration of her life will be held at Sumiton Church of God on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 12:00 PM, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Dusty Hammock will officiate. Burial will follow at New Horizon Memorial Gardens.

Valorie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, Nana, and friend. She leaves behind her husband of 39 years, Eddie Tucker, and their five children: Austin (Brooke), Evan (Carlie), Aaron (Meagan), Alex, and Anna (Tim), as well as her beloved grandchildren: Harrison and Arya (Hillarie), Bentlee, Madelyn, Olivia, Liam, and Daisy. She is also survived by her brothers, Dusty Hammock (Ann) and Michael Hammock (Tammie).

Born on June 1, 1962, in Lakeland, Florida, Valorie was the daughter of the late Hoyt Lee Hammock Sr. and Christine Lavender "Doris" Hammock. After graduating from Corner High School, Valorie married Eddie, her high school sweetheart. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and beautiful memories.

Valorie's love for her family was boundless. She loved deeply, lived fully, and poured herself into the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her faith was unshakable, her love unselfish, and her strength unstoppable. She fought for her family, her faith, and for the countless lives she touched as a Nurse Practitioner and Neonatal Transport Nurse.

Her career at UAB as a Neonatal Transport Nurse reflected her heart. Valorie didn't just care for babies she gave life, love, and hope. Her legacy continues in the lives she saved and the families she comforted through her work.

In 2008, Valorie was diagnosed with cancer. From that moment, she faced the battle with unwavering faith, courage, and strength. She kept her eyes on Jesus and remained steadfast throughout almost 16 years of the battle. Valorie's fight was not just physical; it was eternal. Her prayers, full of faith, will echo throughout eternity.

Valorie's greatest desire was for her family to love and serve the Lord. She lived with courage, joy, and an unshakable faith that continues to inspire all of us. Her legacy is one of faith, love, and strength, and we are challenged to live as she did unshaken in faith, unselfish in love, and unstoppable in strength.

Let us honor her memory by embracing these qualities and living boldly and purposefully, most importantly by surrendering our lives fully to Jesus.
