Obituary

On Saturday, December 12, 2020, Roger White, a loving man with an infectious smile and joy, passed away at the age of 65.  Roger was born on March 6, 1955 in Birmingham, AL to Earnest and Peggy.  He worked many years in excavation, building extraordinary developments.  Roger and Shelby Mae White met nearly 30 years ago.  They married on October 4, 1997 and together they have enjoyed their combined family, church family and friends.

Roger made it his mission to make everyone around him laugh and smile.  He always came up with the funniest jokes and antics.  People wanted to be in his presence because you knew being around Roger would make you feel joy. Roger was always there to lend a helping hand.  He had an amazing ability to make any engine sing.  He could fix any appliance and he could turn old and rusty into shiny and beautiful.  Rogers hobbies included fishing, bowling, playing cards, shooting guns and working in the garage with his grandsons.  And oh man, did he love his big church family and his church sure loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earnest White; mother, Martha Peggy Wingo White Blackman; and brothers, Yancy White, Joe White and JT White.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby; his children, Charlotte Banks (Paul), Wanda White (Kevin), Hope Cochran (Steve) and Bruce Pratt (Lauren); siblings, Bobby White (Martha), Lee White (Karen) and Charlene Perry (Gary); grandchildren, Jacob McCurry, Josh Banks (Morgan), Cody McCurry, Briana Haynie, Dakota White, Zoie White, Hannah Shedd, Makayla Pratt, Alleigh Shedd, Elijah Williams, Mason Pratt White, Lucy Cochran, Emma Grace White, Malena Pratt and Makena Pratt; eight great grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Bell Funeral Home, 510 Main Street, Sumiton AL 35148 with burial in Little Vine Cemetery.
