Roger Dale Russell, age 81, of Dora, passed away peacefully and naturally on July 31, 2026. Born in Alabama on September 28, 1944, he was the son of Icie and Albert "Cotton" Russell.
Roger left home at an early age and spent much of his life working in different places in the United States. He was a pressman by trade, and he approached his work with the same steadiness and determination that marked every part of his life. He married at 19 and, in time, built a large and loving family that became the center of his world.
Those who knew Roger will remember him as kind, generous, hardworking, resilient, family-focused, and courageous. He lived with quiet strength and a dependable spirit, and he was the sort of man others could count on. Whether he was working on mechanic projects, spending time outdoors, fishing, boating, or traveling, he found joy in simple pleasures and in the company of those he loved.
Funeral service will be held at Bell Sumiton Chapel on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 2:00pm, the visitation for friends will begin at 1:00pm until time of service, burial at Morgan Cemetery.
Roger is survived by his children, Robby Russell and Yvonne, Tracy Aaron (Jonathan). Preceded in death by his daughter Sherri Russell Wallace; siblings, Bruce, Jerry, Robert, Harry, Daley, Diane. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Joshua Russell and Stephanie, Justin Russell and Ashli, Nicholas Sloan, Courtnee Wallace, Mishae Russell, and Jon-David Aaron, along with a host of great-grandchildren, host of nieces and nephews, and many friends who will miss him dearly.
His life was a testament to hard work, devotion, and enduring love. He will be remembered with deep affection and gratitude by all whose lives he touched.
