Melvin D. Baggett Jr., age 90 of Empire died Sunday, December 30, 2018 at his residence.  A memorial service will be Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Campbell Air Field in Hayden, AL. The family asks for everyone to share memories and stories at the service. Dress casual.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Drennen Baggett Sr. and Willie Baggett and three sisters and one brother.

Survivors include his children, Melanie Alexander and her husband, Todd of Jasper, Drennen Baggett III of Empire, Brooke Myers and her husband, Jimmy of Hoover, and Jennifer Valenta and her husband, Rich of Cullman; former wife and lifelong friend, Faye Baggett of Empire; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
