Joseph Adam Tolbert, beloved friend and skilled craftsman, was born on March 1, 1972, in Alabama. He peacefully passed away on September 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memorable moments that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Jojo, as he was affectionately known, was a man of many talents and passions. A loyal friend and fierce competitor, he made a lasting impression in every event he entered, displaying the same tenacity that earned him the title of Hall of Fame wrestler in high school. His spirit of camaraderie extended beyond the mat; he was always ready to lend a helping hand and had a unique gift for making friends wherever he went. His warm smile and infectious laughter brightened the lives of all who crossed his path.

An avid fisherman, Jojo found comfort and joy on the water, eagerly sharing his adventures with his friends and family. He was also a skilled carpenter, embracing the challenge of any project presented to him with creativity and determination. His talent for building and working with his hands was rivaled only by his passion for birds; he loved sharing his deep knowledge and enthusiasm for avian life with everyone who showed interest.

Family held a special place in Jojo's heart. He adored his relatives, including his son, Adam Tolbert, which he missed, loved, and carried in his heart every day. His father, Ronald Tolbert, brothers Eric and Craig Tolbert, sister-in-law Tracy Tolbert, and his cherished nieces and nephews: Sean Tolbert, Chase Tolbert, Laura Tolbert, Justin Ellis, Tiffiany Ellis, Vincent Ellis, and Salena Ellis.

 As much as he loved his family, Jojo also embraced a wide circle of friends, many of whom he considered family. He had a knack for connecting with the younger generation, often bringing laughter to their lives with his playful spirit and engaging nature. A classic prankster with a heart of gold, Jojo was always ready to share a light-hearted moment, ensuring that everyone around him was having a good time.Jojo leaves a rich legacy of joy, warmth, and friendship that will be honored by all who knew him. 

He will be remembered not only for his incredible talents and accomplishments but also for the genuine connections he forged in his life. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will continue to bring smiles, laughter, and stories for generations to come.

Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, Lindy Tolbert. 

A Celebration of Life for Joseph Tolbert will be held, Saturday, October 3, 2026, 2:00 p.m., at Empire Baptist Church in Empire, Alabama.
