Johnny M. Cordar, age 49 of the Hanceville went to be with our Lord Jesus on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Huntsville Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Bell Sumiton Chapel with burial in Dilworth Cemetery. Rev. Roy Cordell will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 1:00 till 2:00 PM in the chapel.
Johnny was active in the medical field as a first responder. He drove an ambulance for Hanks of Birmingham, Chief of Yerkwood and Cane Creek Fire Dept., security officer at Children's Hospital, and volunteered with Camp Smile-A-Mile for many years. He was loved and honored by numerous children as he helped them with their lives. Especially Jacob & William Witcher of Hayden, Jared Hodges of Birmingham, Jacob Harel of Hawaii, and Aiden Gann of Hayden; he loved all these kids.
Preceding him in death were his daddy, John T. Cordar; grandparents, Floyd and Lillie Vanderver; and sister, Cherry (Terry) Ray.
Survivors include his wife, April Majors Cordar; son, Zachary Cordar of Hanceville; daughter, Ashley Cordar of Hayden; mother, Alice Vanderver Gill of Hayden; step-father, Charles E. Gill, Sr. of Hayden; sisters, Jennifer Welch Lorino of Alabaster and Becky Taylor (Lewis) of Thatch; step-brother, Charles Gill (Jamie) of Warrior; nephew, Frankie Lorino of Alabaster; niece, Faith Lorino of Alabaster; and a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.
