Mr. J.L. Early, age 80, of Empire passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 at his residence.  Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, August 29, 2021 at New Canaan Cemetery.  Bell Funeral Home Sumiton has been entrusted with the arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Jean Johnson, Willodean Ballenger and Becky Markle; mother, Ester Wakefield; and father, Graton Early.

He is survived by his wife, Inell Early; step-son, Michael Gunnels (Karen); brothers, Gary Early and B.C. Early (Janette); sisters, Brenda Bishop and Debra Miles (Roger); grandsons, Tyler Gunnels (Maddie) and Justin Gunnels; great granddaughter, Ivy Gunnels; and a host of other relatives and friends.
