James "Bigman" Wayon Thomas, 85, peacefully passed on Nov 2, 2023 at his home in Corner, AL with his family by his side. Funeral Service will be Monday November 06, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Bell Sumiton Chapel. Visitation will be at 9:00 am at Bell Sumiton Chapel. Burial will be at McCormick Cemetery. Bro. Frankie Harris will be officiating.

James was born Feb 5, 1938 in Jefferson County to Herschel and Nolie Thomas. He graduated from Warrior High School. He was a member of the United States Army and completed 2 years of service in the Air Defense Artillery and Honor Guard. Retired in 2000 from Sloss Industries. James married Lue Taylor Thomas in 1960.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary "Woot" Abbott, and son, Matthew Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Lue Thomas of 63 years. Children- Christopher (Carmel) Thomas and Lisa (Bart) Killingsworth. His grandchildren – Andrea (Brandon) Simmons, Courtney (Nick) McGraw, Macie (Austin) Norris, Mason Calvert. Great-Grandchildren – Cole and Lorelai Simmons, Evelyn McGraw. Siblings – Ellaweise Crane and Mike Thomas along with a host of other family.
