Helen Jean Ellis went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 12th, 2025 leaving behind a lifetime of love and memories that will stand the test of time. Born to James Abner Wood and Lillie Wood on September 13th,1940, she was the youngest of three children. She was a graduate of Corner High School where she was a majorette. She married the love of her life Don Ellis in 1958 and they spent 66 wonderful years together. During that time she spent many years caring for her two children, her mother, and a host of grandchildren who will continue to feel her love for the rest of their lives. She was best known for her talent with baking and was known by many as "The Cake Lady". Jean enjoyed visiting the beach with Don where they would spend extended periods in the fall for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Phillip Don Ellis Sr. Her father James Abner Wood and mother Lillie Wood. Brothers William and Robert Wood. Son in law Bro. Jack Hester, and great-grandsons Grayson and Graham Hester.
She is survived by her daughter; Deborah Ellis Hester and son Phillip Don Ellis Jr. Grandsons Mark Hester (Heather), Brennan Ellis (Jordan), and Garrett Ellis (Erin), granddaughter Amy Dedmon (Keith). Great-grandsons Jakob Adams (Janie), Alec Adams (Ashley), Fisher Hester (Maddie), Gates Ellis, and Everett Ellis, great-granddaughter Emily Adams (Everette). Great-great granddaughters; Brooklyn Adams, Jillian Adams, Sadie Wilkes and great-great-grandsons; Greyson Pickell and Madden Adams and daughter in law Regina Ellis. Along with a host of nieces and nephews.
The mark she made on this world will be remembered by so many people by helping them make memories together through her baking. To the people that loved her most, we will never forget our NeNe because her love for us will forever live on.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Bell Sumiton Chapel at 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial to follow at New Horizon Memorial Gardens.
