Mr. George Travis Raney, Sr, age 81 of Dora passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at his residence.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM  Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Bell Sumiton Chapel  with burial in Shanghi Cemetery in Quinton.  Rashad Poole and Dale Horton will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Raney was retired from Segco Mines.  Preceding him in death were his wife, Linda Raney; daughters, Brenda, Carla and Georgia Lynn Raney; granddaughter, Tiffany Howard; mother, Ruby Raney; one brother and three sisters.

Survivors include his daughter, Joyce Pickett and her husband, Vince of Calera; son, Geroge "Bubba" Raney, Jr. of Calera; sister, Betty Henderson and her husband, Troy of Quinton; sister-in-law, Doris Raney of Dora; brother-in-law, Terry Vintson of Hueytown; 14 grandchildren, great grandchildren, Austin, Kirklan, Ayson, Bitty, Cash, Blu, Addisyn,  Sawyer, Remmi, Kennedi, Brycen, Ella Russell, Cade, Aubrie, Matthew, Denver, Baker and Sophia; one great -great grandchild, Winston; and a host of other relatives and friends.
