Visitation will be 1:30 to 2:30 PM at the funeral home on Monday. Visitation will be limited at this time to family and close friends due to the current restrictions on social gatherings in Alabama. Bell Funeral Home Sumiton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Floyd is survived by his son, Floyd "Trey" M. Vanderver III; daughter, Deanna Vanderver, and step-daughter, Donna Lyn Sims; wife, Angela Bennett; grandsons, Ethan and Triston; siblings, Alice Vanderver Gill, Charles Vanderver, Archie Vanderver, and Jeri Vanderver Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is joining his parents, Floyd M. Vanderver Sr. and Lillie I. Poore Vanderver; as well as brothers, Otis Ray Vanderver, Bill Vanderver, Claude Vanderver, Lloyd Vanderver, and Troy Vanderver; and sisters, Betty J. Vanderver Bryson, Elsie Vanderver, and Ailean Vanderver Holley in Heaven.
He was a Marine Veteran and became ordained as a pastor who performed online services and served as a guest pastor at local churches. After his family, his greatest love was fishing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks if you would buy a fishing pole for a child. "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime."
